Horizon Science Academy Cedar Rapids has been informed that Radiant Church has made the decision not to move forward with a lease agreement for our planned Fall 2026 school location. We want to be transparent with our community about what this means and where we go from here.
HSA Cedar Rapids will not open at the Radiant Church site. However, we want to be clear: this is a pause, not a closure. Our charter remains fully active, and we are committed to opening a school in Cedar Rapids. We are actively pursuing alternative facility options with the goal of welcoming students in Fall 2027.
Our principal, Angelica Brothers, remains under contract and will continue in her role, including leading community engagement and assisting in our efforts to identify and secure a new site. Her continued commitment reflects the seriousness with which HSA approaches this community.
We entered this process in good faith. Our team answered every question raised, fulfilled every obligation, and brought the same professionalism and dedication to Cedar Rapids that HSA brings to every community it serves. We are disappointed, but we are not deterred.
To the families who enrolled or began the enrollment process: we have been in direct contact with you. You have our personal commitment that you will be among the first to know as our plans develop.
To our community partners and supporters: your belief in what HSA can offer Cedar Rapids students is not misplaced. The need for a high-quality educational option here has not changed.
